Pain Management

Chronic pain is generally defined as an unpleasant sense of discomfort that persists or progresses over a long period of time. In contrast to acute pain that arises suddenly in response to a specific injury and is usually treatable, chronic pain persists over time and is often resistant to medical treatments.

Chronic pain can be debilitating and very difficult to treat and does not always respond to oral narcotic pain relievers.

The compounds we provide at University Pharmacy provide new and unique pain treatment options. Certain medications can be prepared in creams. When the drug(s) in them reach the pain receptor or affected nerve under the skin they can relieve pain by a variety of mechanisms.

Whether you are suffering from chronic or acute pain we, at University Pharmacy recommend you identify the source of the pain and talk to your physician for the proper treatment options. Once those options have been prescribed we would love to spend additional time with you to do our part in treating the pain.
